"I found myself completely immersed in a virtual workplace like no other. I have colleagues (who are also now friends) all over the country, many of whom I have never met in person but would know the sound of their voice anywhere."

Eleu O., Concierge Manager, Honolulu, HI
Life at VIPdesk began for me on February 21, 2001 and over 9
years later, I still find my good fortune hard to believe.
Prior to VIPdesk, I was a fresh faced college graduate, working
as a hotel Concierge in Santa Monica. I loved standing in that
hotel lobby everyday meeting new people, welcoming back return
guests and building relationships that remain strong to this day. I
enjoyed helping first time visitors to the Los Angeles area
navigate the city and was proud to be able to arrange a last minute
limousine or book a table at one of the hottest restaurants in the
city. I knew Los Angeles better then I knew my hometown and thought
of myself as an ambassador and cheerleader.
A very good friend of mine started working for VIPdesk and
coaxed me into submitting my resume. I'll be the first to admit I
was skeptical, the job sounded too good to be true. Earn a great
living working from home? How could that be? Is this company
real?
I found myself completely immersed in a virtual workplace like
no other. I have colleagues (who are also now friends) all over the
country, many of whom I have never met in person but would know the
sound of their voice anywhere.
Two years into my career with VIPdesk, I made the decision to
return home to Honolulu. I'd had enough of the "big city" and it
was time to return home to my roots, family and friends. When I
arrived back home, I got off the plane with two suitcases, one of
which included my desktop tower, keyboard and mouse. I was able to
plug in and get to work a week after moving back home from the
mainland.
Over the years I have been a Lead Concierge, Senior Concierge
and Concierge Manager. I have been recognized as Concierge Manager
of the Year and Most Inspirational Team Member. For the last 6
years, I have been managing a wonderful team of concierges who work
the evening and overnight shifts. The time difference between
Hawaii and our headquarters in Alexandria allows me to work hours
that meet our company needs and my personal desires.
As my 10-year anniversary approaches, I continue to thank my
lucky stars and good fortune. Both VIPdesk and I have grown and
changed and I look forward to many years to come.
