I started working for VIPdesk headquarters in Virginia doing
payroll April of 2008 and immediately loved the office atmosphere
and the people I worked with. Finding out that my supervisor was
living and working in Canada was kind of a shock at first, but I
realized that even though he lived in another country we were able
to still communicate as if he was working right in the Virginia
office.
When my husband graduated from Law School (which is why we were
living in Virginia), he accepted a job offer from a firm here in
Utah which is where we were going to be permanently living. I told
my supervisor and at first we were unsure if I would have the
ability to work from home doing payroll because of confidentiality
issues. Nobody had ever done payroll from home, they were all
located at head quarters. We talked with a few others to see how we
could work things out and found a way to make it work perfectly for
everyone.
I set up my computer to have the ability to log into the VIPdesk
VPN, and made all the preparations needed before I moved to Utah in
May of 2009. After setting up my phone line in my office I was all
set.
Working from home has been amazing. It was strange adjusting to
the fact that I don't have to dress up for work or commute every
day. It is especially wonderful being able to look out the window
while it is snowing as I sit at my desk in the comfort of my own
home, working away.
VIPdesk has made it possible for their employees to work from
the comforts of their home and still have the ability to have the
same communication as if they are in the head quarters office
thousands of miles away.
